My Story

I'm April Gardner, award-winning author of Christian historical romance. My stories burst with faith and history and are known to inspire the occasional romantic swoon. I've also written children's historical fiction, and I'm the author Body Beats to Build On, a best-selling craft book for writers who want to add variety to their characters' body movements.

A child of foreign missionaries and the wife of a retired U.S. airman, I've lived half my life in five different countries. We've happily settled in the San Antonio area where I've spent the last few years preparing for an empty nest. That includes going back to school. Yep, I'm once again a full-time college kid. Loving every minute of it, too. The only downfall is the time it takes away from my writing. Although, nothing--not even final exams--can truly keep me from pecking away at one story or another.

In my free time, I've usually got a book in my hands, but whenever possible, I travel--to a national park if I can swing it. Below is a picture from my most recent adventure. Beautiful, wild Alaska! (Behind-the-scenes detail: as I took the picture, something very large [moose? bear??] was rustling around in those bushes to the right. Eep!)

One of my very favorite things is hearing from readers, so don't hesitate to use the contact form to reach out!
